Meet Our Expert Speakers

Dr. Amy Cheung, MD, M.Sc.

Dr. Cheung is an Associate Scientist at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Dr. Cheung’s research interests include the management of mood disorders in adolescents and young adults by primary care providers, and the adverse effects of pharmacological treatments for mood disorders. Dr. Cheung is also examining the prevalence of adolescent depression and suicide in the Canadian population and factors influencing service utilization.

Dr. Anthony Levitt, MD, MBBS, FRCPC

Dr. Levitt is the Chief of the Hurvitz Brain Sciences Program at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Full Professor of Psychiatry and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto. He is the Medical Director of the Family Navigation Project (FNP). He has also served as a member and chair of the Canadian Institutes of Health Sciences, Randomized Clinical Trials committee and the Behavioural Sciences Committee and as the President of the Society for Light Treatment and Biological Rhythms. Dr. Levitt’s research focuses on several related areas within the field of mood disorders.

Dr. Mark Fefergrad, MD, FRCPC, MEd

Dr. Mark Fefergrad is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto and served as Program Director for the General Psychiatry training program from 2013-2020. In that role, he was instrumental in helping with the transition towards competency-based education while modernizing the Psychiatry curriculum to include the perspectives and participation of mental health service users and other marginalized populations. He is a highly respected supervisor and teacher and has taught and lectured around the world, winning numerous awards for this work.

Dr. Nikola Grujich, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Nik Grujich is a staff psychiatrist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and an associate of the Frederick W. Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre. He completed his medical degree and psychiatric specialty training at the University of Toronto. Dr. Grujich’s primary clinical focus is the treatment and management of mood and anxiety disorders through evidence-based psychotherapies and pharmacotherapy. He is also the director of the Sunnybrook telepsychiatry program and collaborative care program. Dr. Grujich is an active teacher and lecturer at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine and has won numerous teaching awards in this capacity.
